Memories of Vera from Robin Sanders

Created by Richard 10 years ago
Vera was a very faithful member of the Congregational / United Reformed church in East Sheen. She made a huge impact on us as teenagers sharing her faith in leading the youth group on Sunday mornings and again during the week. Vera and Jim frequently welcomed the youth group into their home in Radnor Road and we remember both the fun and the stimulating conversations we had. Vera showed a great deal of energy, enthusiasm and commitment in keeping up with us youngsters. She was a formative influence upon us, and although, regrettably, we probably never told her, we hugely appreciated what she did for us. Vera played an important part in keeping both of us in the church as teenagers and that ultimately led to my brother Martyn being ordained as a minister in the Church of Scotland and myself being secretary of Banstead URC for several years, and now church treasurer. We remember Vera with great love and affection. She was a great witness to the Gospel both in what she taught us formally and in what she taught us through her dedication, her Christian faith, love and friendship. Robin Sanders 15 December 2013
